D 8 1/2

Our son D is 8 1/2 years old and has a diagnosis of autism. We began treating him homeopathically through the guidance of John Melnychuk 10 months ago. Our biggest concerns at the time were with D’s behavior. He would hurt his younger brother, hurt our dog and was occasionally pushing kids at school, or pulling their hair, etc. He also would put an extreme amount of pressure on his lower abdomen to calm himself.
Since we began treatment, D’s behavior has improved significantly. He no longer hurts his brother, or the dog. He still will have an occasional bad behavior at school, but this has significantly decreased. He will put pressure on his abdomen, it seems, when the remedy needs to be increased, or changed.
D is now able to sit and attend for longer periods of time. He seems more social and interested in playing. He is watching some TV programs, which he hasn’t done in a long time. Comprehension and concentration has increased. He has become more independent; getting dressed by himself, brushing his teeth, etc.
It is a slow progression, and we still have a way to go. We still get an occasional tantrum here and there. But, I have to say, the quality of life has improved for our family so dramatically since our first visit to John Melnychuk.

I cannot contain my excitement. From his first dose yesterday, we are seeing behaviors that are so NOT the J we know. For example, shortly after his dose yesterday, he decided he would like to be dropped off at school at the drop off line as opposed to being walked in. Huge!!!! But we were a bit skeptical so we said lets try it tomorrow. We talked to his teacher and asked if she would wait by the classroom entry so he would be more comfortable walking on his own from the car to his classroom. Today, when we got to school, the teacher was not there. But he wanted to walk so we dropped him off at the line – there was no hesitation at all. He grabbed his backpack and umbrella and walked right into his classroom.
He also had to turn in his library book and Easter eggs and a permission slip – we were convinced that he would not do any of those things – because of his anxiety and fear of talking to his teacher. When we picked him up today, he had not only turned in his book in the right cubby hole, but had also remembered to give the teacher both the permission slip and the Easter eggs. We are flabbergasted.
When he got home, he was very hungry – not normal for him at all since he eats very little. As soon as he was done eating, he opened up his backpack on his own, took out his red bag (reading program) – took a book out, sat down on his own and started reading. Again, this is not the J we know.

K

My son, K, is a 6-year-old autistic boy. Although he has been making progress using the DAN approach, as of last August he had severe headaches, which some people suggested could be a seizure. K went through a 24-hour EEG in 2004 and we found no seizure. Because I hate the idea of K taking seizure medicine, I have been refusing to do this. During the time he is in pain, he grabs me, pulls my hair, bites me, pinches me — I was very scared to imagine what will happen when K gets older.
We went to meet John last September and started to follow his directions. K started to take his remedy. His headache got less and less. His aggressive behavior started diminishing. It is January of 2006 now. He has not had the headache for 2 weeks. And he stopped attacking me now. Thank you, John.

Our son was diagnosed with Autism when he was 3 years old. His major issues were regression and loss of speech, loss of some gross and fine motor skills. Our son is now 5 years and 9 months old and over the last 2 years and 9 months we have tried various medical treatments and therapies to treat his condition with mixed results.
One of the issues that we were facing with our son in January 2006 was the heightened PICA and some aggressive behaviors (pinching or biting). This behavior was limiting his ability to function in his current school — especially PICA. Our son would get a good behavior card in school maybe once in a week (he goes to school 5 days a week). It was very frustrating for us as we had tried different expensive medical and therapies to address this issue and nothing seemed to be working.
Finally we came across an article in Mothering Magazine about John and his work with autistic kids. We met John in late February 2006 and had a very good meeting. John observed our son’s hyperactivity and PICA. At the end of the meeting John gave our son a low dose of XX and asked us to give him everyday 3/4 teaspoon dissolved in 4 oz of water. After two days of giving medication to our son, we were watching a miracle happening in front of our eyes. His PICA and aggressive behavior was gone 90-95%, he was a calm and focused kid. His teachers and therapists noted an immediate change. Our son received “Good Behaviour” card for each day onwards for the last 3 weeks. He became more responsive, started showing more emotions, started playing in a more meaningful manner. He started following complex instructions which he had not done in the past. This was the fastest positive response that we have seen with a treatment for our son versus all the other medical interventions. We continue to look forward to working with John to improve our son’s condition and are very grateful for his work with our son. We are now very hopeful of our son’s recovery. Thanks John, you have given us Hope.

Octogenarian feels better

Thank you, thank you, thank you! After decades of chronic worries and anxieties, my 82 year-old mother is calm. With a fear of flying, she was able to pack and fly home without extreme anxiety and even said that she had a lovely conversation with the gentleman next to her. Her tone of voice over the phone is now relaxed. Her energy is greatly improved. Her chronic urinary problem has completed cleared up. She is no longer anemic and has stopped taking her thyroid medication because her PSH level is now fine. She keeps saying “It’s a miracle!” Recently she was robbed and she calmly handled stopping her credit cards, changing her locks, etc. She has always talked about writing and has lots of creative ideas. Her anxiety sucked her energy. She has now started on a writing project. My whole family is grateful to you for the amazing improvement in the quality of life of our mother. Thank you!

Four Year Old Girl No Longer Terrified of Grandfather

For two years my 4-year-old daughter was terrified of her grandfather (we think his scraggly beard was to blame). She would cry or leave the room when he visited and she refused to visit my in-law’s house. It made family gatherings both difficult and awkward, and it put a real strain on all of us.
That all changed when we started her on the remedy John recommended.
Two months after starting the homeopathy, my daughter saw her grandfather for the first time in a few months. He walked into the room and we all braced for the familiar chant of, “No, no, no.” To our surprise and relief, there was no reaction at all. We viewed her indifference as progress. But the real progress came in the following weeks. Not only did she greet her grandfather on his next visit, but she also gave him high fives, asked him to show her the photos on his digital camera and went to his house for Sunday brunch. The change was so sudden and dramatic; it’s almost as though she totally forgot she was scared of this man for half of her life.
Needless to say we’re all thrilled — grandpa especially! This budding relationship of theirs has been such a blessing to our family.

The Autism Strike
At the age of 17 months old, my son received the MMR and DPT vaccinations the same day. Immediately he started with behavior and health problems that started with and episode of diarrhea that lasted for 3 weeks that continued with self injurious behavior in a cradling position hitting his head against the kitchen floor and a hyper activity that did not allow him to fall sleep at night. Also, he became aggressive to me. If upset or exited, he scratched me, hit me, or kicked me.
His hyper activity kept him up until three in the morning. His health was getting worse every day. He developed all kind of infections, started with fungus in his tongue, blisters in his fingers, bacteria in his buttocks, ear infection over and over, eyes infection, severe gingivitis, diaper rash, upper air way infection, skin rash similar to chicken pox.
Four months later his pediatrician transferred him to the Immunology Department of Children’s Hospital. He was diagnosed with Neutropenia, an immune system disorder in which the white cells are too low that the system cannot fight bacteria. Within weeks he was transferred to the Oncology Department. He had a bone marrow aspiration and biopsy. On a 6 months follow up miraculous he was healed without any medication. God answered my prayers.
At his pediatrician’s clinic he became very aggressive to me and he was referred to a neurologist. The neurologist referred him to The Regional Center. Here he was diagnosed with Autism at age 3 years 8 months old.
Immediately I started looking for information on Internet. I found the Homeopathy book ‘Impossible Cure’ by Amy Lansky. I contacted her and gave me the telephone number of John Melnychuk the same Homeopath that helped cure Amy’s son.
My Son on the Homeopathy Remedy. The Road to Recovery.
January 2007, my son was 4 years old we had our first meeting with John. I went to the meeting with high expectations and my heart full of hope. My son’s hyperactivity was so bad. He was not talking, his behaviors were so disruptive that at that point I was not taking him outside home on weekends.
He was going from home to day care only. Next month he started on a daily dosage of Homeopathy Remedy. His language started to develop nicely. He went from non-talking to a bilingual Spanish/English. In one year his language has developed so well that at age 5 years 2 months his Speech Assessment score 6.8 words! It is expected to speak one word per year of life. So he was expected to score 5.2
First, he healed from the severe gingivitis that already lasted 3 years. He had seen 3 different dentists with the same belief ‘There is nothing that we can do he is too young now, just continue cleaning his mouth.’
On the first months on the remedy my son started understanding people’s emotions. Before treatment he could not read my face. Now, I do not need to say a word. If I do not approve what he is doing, he understands my emotion only by looking at my face. Now, he said ‘Mommy I want to see your face with a smile.’
After 6 months on the remedy my son was toilet trained. I was told at his day-care that people with autism are not aware of their needs so probably he was never going to be toilet trained.
I knew it was time for me to be a full time mother. My son needed support with the toilet training. I did not want him at the day-care because there was the risk for him of having regressions. I have big expectations for my son so I dropped him from the day-care and I brought my sister in law Carmen from El Salvador to help my son at home. I have to tell that Carmen took care of my son at my home for 2 months.
I said to Carmen: “Tomorrow put him only in his under wear and tell him to ask to go to the bathroom if he has the need.”
He wet his pants only once. The next time he used the bathroom. He did not want to be with his pants wet. He is toilet trained since that day and never have had any toilet accidents. Two months after he was toilet trained he finally healed from the persistent fungus he has had in his diaper area.
His hyperactivity continued but there was a little bit of improvement. He had no need to be in the sofa on his usual upside down position. He had a fear for things that are normal routine like a hair cut. It was to the point that the last time he vomited at the beauty salon because the experience was so stressful for him. Now he lets me cut his hair. I do not need to wait until he is sleeping to cut his hair or nails. I can show him the scissors and he allows me to cut his hair. I can ask him to show me his fingers when it is time to cut his nails.
During the 8th month on the remedy my son had another tremendous improvement. One night he fell sleep at 9 o’clock! This was the miracle I was waiting for from the day he started the Homeopathy Remedy.
So, I left my job and I started taking care of him at home. Obviously, he was overwhelmed with his 2 hours of school and the rest of his day at day-care. So with some changes and the help of homeopathy he was able to calm down, regulate his body and finally he falls asleep at 9 as it is expected for a child his age.
Once he started with the pattern of good night sleep, he continues sleeping at 9. There have been so many days that he is sleeping at 7, so many days that he is sleeping at 8. It depends on how much activity he has had during the day.
12 Months on the Remedy My son is a typical child in Many Ways.
My son has turned 5 years now, he continues with his daily dosage of Homeopathy Remedy. In so many ways he is a typical child now. We have annual passes for Disneyland. I can take him to Disneyland with no problem at all. He is able to hold my hand and follow the park rules. Before, I could not take him outside home because he used to non-stop running. I was afraid I was going to lose him. I run but he is a lot faster.
I can take my son to McDonalds like any other typical child. My son enjoys himself in the play area. Once he has had enough he ask me for his meal. He is able to sit down and enjoys his meal. One I say ‘It is time to go home’ he holds my hand and walks with me.
Before, a trip to McDonalds was too much for him. He shivered from fear in the play area. In the meal area, he used to crash his body from one table to the other. He could not even eat, not even an ice cream.
Recently while we were eating at McDonald’s an old lady approached me and gave me a compliment for my beautiful boy. Immediately my eyes filled with tears and I said “Thank you, you have no idea what your compliment means to me.”
My son is going to start kindergarten next July 08. He already knows the 26 letters of the alphabet; he knows all the colors, the shapes. His social skills have started to develop; he is ready to join the crowd now.
I am aware that there are many challenges for my son in the first years of school but I am so happy for the accomplishments he has had and for the tremendous progress he has made. Every day is my proudest accomplishment My son is asleep at 9.

Boy now in full inclusion regular ed class

John, it was so nice to hear from you yesterday. R. is doing really well these days. It’s been 5 months since you saw R. and I can’t wait for you to see him next time because you’ll be amazed with all the things he says these days. He is still on the two remedies that you prescribed to him.
I am certain that homeopathy played a big part on R.’s progress. He started taking homeopathy since 2/24/07. Just two days after he took the first remedy I noticed a change in his behavior. He used to have tantrums every morning when I took him to the car because he would get upset that his shoes got wet from walking on the lawn. The first thing he would ask me to do is “wipe my shoes”. After I wiped his shoes he would still get mad because he can still see the water stain on his shoes and he would proceed to kick the back of my seat while I was driving him to school. It was something that I had to put up with every morning and I just learned to ignore it as best as I can. When he didn’t display this behavior on the second day after he took the first remedy you can imagine how AMAZED I was. I was positive that it was the remedy doing the trick because I didn’t do anything different. Then later that evening I gave him a bath and washed his hair, again no complain about getting his hair wet, which was a torturous experience in the past. He used to cry and tried to get away from the bathtub whenever I washed his hair. I was very happy to see this change in his behavior. I also noticed quicker response when I asked him questions. His teacher also told me that he was talking more and more aware of what was happening in class.
My skeptical husband didn’t want to believe R.’s improvements had anything to do with homeopathy, so I took R. off the remedy for 9 days and his crying during hair wash and complaint about his shoes getting wet all came back. Once I put him back on the remedy, this behavior immediately stopped. Now I’ve learned that when he complains about hair wash or shoes getting wet, it’s time to increase the dosage of the remedy.
Around June 2005, John gave R. another remedy. We continued to see improvements. The key to making homeopathy work is detailed documentation of changes in your child after he/she starts taking the remedy, and then share those details with your homeopath to see how to adjust the dosage to maximize its benefits.
R. is in Kindergarten now and in a full inclusion regular ed class. He is doing regular curriculum (nothing is modified for him). He does have an aide because he still needs someone to keep him on task. But I am amazed with the progress he’s made this year. On both of his report cards he got 3’s (Proficient: demonstrates consistent performance of grade level knowledge) on everything except for writing where he got 2+. This is wonderful considering that the school district had so much doubt in him that they only agreed to 60% regular ed/40% special day class in the beginning of the year. R. has been in the regular class 90% of the time since Oct ’07. The special ed director said R. self elect to be in regular ed. Even R.’s private speech therapist told me recently that she didn’t approve of me pushing for full inclusion for R. because she has never seen it work. But she said R. is a surprise for her because he is able to learn the curriculum and she felt that perhaps his speech increased and is more spontaneous because he’s with typical kids all day. I know that homeopathy and acupuncture play a big part on his improvements.
Another welcoming change lately is R. no longer bothers us on weekend mornings (he used to come to our bed as soon as he wakes up) because now he plays with his brother. They would do pretend play like make sandwiches or launch their spaceship.
Last but not least, I want to end our story with something funny that R. said to his aide. R. has alergy this week and his nose was runny. He said to his aide on Monday “Go away Rosie, my nose is runny, I don’t want you to get sick”.

Jesse

We just wanted to say how much we appreciate the amazing work you have done with our 6 year old son, Jesse, over the past year. Jesse was 2 years old when diagnosed with autism. Over the past 4 years, we have utilized countless therapies; educational, therapeutic, and biomedical in nature, in order to better reach our son.
Since beginning homeopathic treatment with you just over one year ago, we have seen immense changes in Jesse, many of which were almost instantaeous. After beginning treatment, our son went from being introverted, quiet, and “spacey”, to interrractive, outgoing, and highly spirited. Family, friends, teachers, and therapists have told us over and over again what immense changes they have seen in Jesse over the past year. The best way to describe it is that it was almost as though Jesse “woke up”! In our case, homeopathy has been the single most effective treatment for our son.
Thank you again, and we look forward to our continued work together in the future.

R

Our son R. is 6-1/2, and we have been recovering him from autism since he was 2-1/2. In the four years we have been treating him, we have done the DAN! protocol of diet and supplements, Amy Yasko’s protocol and most recently homeopathy. We have made significant progress with all of these interventions, but about a year or so ago R. hit a plateau, even started to decline a bit. He was throwing wicked tantrums – hitting, biting, kicking and screaming for hours. He was a kindergartener who was being suspended on a regular basis. That’s when we started to see John. We went through a few different remedies, some of which helped a little, until we hit on the right one. After we found the right remedy, everything changed. R. was much calmer, his tantrums were much less frequent and severe and he was able to control himself and calm himself more easily when he did start to escalate. Now, whenever he starts to get agitated, I give him the remedy and he calms down in a matter of minutes.
Other changes happened as well. He became much more social, he started to be interested in more age-appropriate activities, his speech improved and by the end of the school year he was finishing his work in class more consistently. He does still have the occasional outburst but we give him his remedy and things cool down quickly. John has been instrumental in getting R. back on the right track. I can’t thank him enough for all he has done for us. He has always been readily available for a quick chat, and he has been genuinely concerned for R.’s well being. We would not be where we are today if we hadn’t found John and his wealth of knowledge on treating autistic kids!
